Condition assessment comment: Advice received from Dave Evans, NE "I am happy with the extent of tree clearance here. The site is much more accessible and visible. GWT have done an excellent job with this. Although I would have no objection to further clearance, the designated interest features (including the top of the Tintern Sandstone are now fully exposed and managed. The site is therefore in favourable condition – with the caveats below:- If future effort has to be divided between further tree clearance and managing re-growth, then my preference would be for the latter, in order to ensure that we get complete control of this area rather than risk going back to square one. Once we are happy that further re-growth has ceased, then we could consider the value of clearing the remaining trees in the vicinity of the quarry faces.
