| Condition assessment comment: |
The conservation objectives for this meadow now include positive indicator species for both MG4 and MG8 communities. It achieves favourable condition more comfortably compared to the last assessment in 2005 but still a bit short of the target by one species occasional = 3 F, 2 O and 6 rare. The proposed adjustment of the cutting regime (allowing at least 1 to 2 earlier cuts every 3 years from the 15 June) may help increase the frequency of a number of the rarer species found in the field (common knapweed, yellow rattle, cuckoo flower, bird-foot trefoil, marsh bedstraw) by removing maximum nutrients at the peak growth of hay. As it is borderline and management remains suitable the SSSI has been assessed as remaining favourable. |
