Staff member responsible for SSSI unit: Nicola Jameson
Unit ID: 1012893
Unit area: 4 hectares
Main habitat: Earth heritage
Condition:   Favourable
Latest assessment date: 11 August 2011
Condition assessment comment: The site is currently in favourable condition. The main quarry face is visible although vegetation is starting to become a problem. The scissum bed although is currently accessible, is at risk of becoming lost amongst the growth of young trees. The Cotteswold sand exposures, although covered in light vegetation, which in itself is protecting the soft exposures, are accessible and should an area need to be exposed for scientific purposes can be easily acheived. The quarry face in which the cephlapod beds are located is accessible and exposed. The area in front of the exposure may need work to remove some young trees along the bank leading up to the exposure to maintain access. The main canopy should remain intact affording the exposures a degree of protection from vegetation growth.
