| How to get there: |
Approaching from the A6 (Duffield Road), follow the signpost west to the main car park. There is also a car park off Woodlands Lane if approaching from the Quarndon end of the site. Pedestrian access points are located around the site.

| Visitor facilities: |
There is a Nature Trail which guides visitors around the site (approx. 1.5 miles). The circular Allestree Walk takes in part of the site. Leaflets detailing the walks may be available from Allestree Library, the Allestree Park golf shop and the Darley Fields Ranger Office. Information boards are located near Allestree Hall and around the lake. There are on-site toilet facilities next to Allestree Hall. | What to see: |
The Reserve contributes to the Lowland Derbyshire Biodiversity Action Plan and includes the following habitats; parkland and veteran trees, secondary woodland, semi-natural grassland, swamp, standing open water with associated vegetation and hedgerows. The site includes a sandstone quarry in Big Wood.

| Volunteer and 'Friends of' groups: |
The Reserve is supported by the Friends of Allestree Park group. Conservation activities and other events are held through out the year, these include “Friends of Allestree Park Go wild” - a day of activity aimed at young people on 14th May 2006: 10 am-4 pm.
